Code of Conduct
This Slack community exists for operators to learn and share marketing, growth and operational insights among Shopify-focused app teams and agencies. To keep conversation productive and welcoming, the rules below apply to every member.
Expectations for members of our community include:
- Participate. You're here to learn from others, but that doesn't happen if you're not an active participant. The key to healthy relationships and communities is all of us doing our part.
- Be considerate. Choose to think the best of others and try to understand where they are coming from.
The Basics
The points below go without saying but they have to be said nonetheless.
Treat everyone with courtesy and professionalism.
- Harassment, personal attacks, hate speech, or discrimination of any kind will result in removal.
- Obscene, vulgar, or NSFW material is not allowed.
No spam or unsolicited promotion.
- Do not pitch or promote products or services in public channels unless the channel description allows it.
- Unsolicited DMs (direct messages) to members are not allowed. This community is not made for your personal promotions.
What is shared here stays here.
- Do not screenshot, quote, or otherwise share community discussions outside Slack without explicit permission.
Be mindful of common Slack etiquette.
- Post in the correct channel. If one doesn't exist, post in #general. If there's a consensus that the topic deserves its own channel or there's enough conversations about it, a dedicated channel will be created.
- Avoid @channel or @here unless it is urgent and affects everyone.
- Do not cross-post the same question in multiple channels.
Profile Requirements
Please make your Slack profile picture a clear, recent photo of you. Seeing real faces helps everyone connect to who they are chatting with, puts conversations in context, and generally makes the community feel more welcoming and personal.
Avatars, company logos, AI images, or anything that is not actually you will not be allowed. Members will be nudged to update their profile photo if found to be in violation. Repeated violations of this may result in your removal.
We get that some folks can be camera-shy or privacy-minded. However this is a private, paid community and a bit of real-world visibility is part of the deal. If you would rather stay anonymous, this might not be the best fit, and that is totally fine.
Moderation and enforcement
One of the benefits of having a private, paid community is ensuring it doesn't devolve into a free-for-all like most public forums online.
Kunal Konde (@kunal) and Spencer Bonthoux (@spencer) are both founders and moderators here, and it's their responsibility to set the tone and make sure our guidelines stick. Part of their job is to step in when a rule is broken, whether that means a friendly reminder, deleting a post, or removing someone entirely.
Even with active moderators, posts can move fast or issues come up in DMs. We rely on members to help keep the space respectful and productive.
If something feels off, do not let it slide.
You can flag the issue through the anonymous Slack workflow linked in the channels. Every report drops into a private moderator channel, where it will be reviewed and the moderators will determine if and what the necessary action should be taken against the offending member.
Breaking Community Guidelines
Depending on the severity of violations, breaking the community guidelines can either result in a warning or immediate removal. No refunds will be provided in the event of removal from the community due to violations of the community guidelines.
